April 10, 2024 (CLINTON, Okla.) – After nearly 50 years of continued success – as well as some national acclaim – a popular Oklahoma barbeque restaurant is now up for sale.
Jigg’s Smokehouse has been owned and operated
by the same family since 1978, and the current owners have decided to retire.
With all remaining family members living out of state and busy with their own
careers, the next logical step was to sell the restaurant.
Located off of historic Route 66 and Interstate 40 in
Clinton, Jigg’s Smokehouse has been featured in various newspapers, magazines
and books over the years, and has appeared on Food Network’s Outrageous Food
show, Discover Oklahoma TV and KFOR Oklahoma’s “Is this a Great State or
What?!” program.
Steeped in tradition, the turnkey Jigg’s is a Custer County
landmark celebrated for its slow-smoked meats. Mouthwatering brisket, tender
ribs and amazing beef jerky all stand out, as do several specialty sandwiches.
As for the property itself, the vibe is southern charm. The décor is rustic,
the paneled walls adorned with Route 66 history and photos of icons such as
John Wayne, Bob Wills, and Marty Robbins.
“Jigg’s has a small menu with huge portions, and they make
their own barbecue sauce,” said Corky Heard, Broker/Owner of Clinton-based
United Country Real Estate | Heard Auction
& Real Estate, the brokerage listing Jigg’s for sale. “There’s no signage other than on the front of the
building and all of the advertising over the years has been mainly word of
mouth.”
It seems that even with “word of mouth” driving the
business, Jigg’s became known nationally for its beef jerky, of which the
business ships some 4,000 pounds annually to dedicated customers. The jerky
recipe has been a guarded family secret — but should the restaurant sell, that
will change.
“It is the hope that the new owners would keep the business
running and possibly expand the beef jerky business by having a company
commercially produce and package the product,” Heard said. “I think that has
huge potential.”
In addition to its packaged jerky, Jigg’s also sells its
renowned BBQ sauce, as well as pork and beef dry rubs, and branded t-shirts.
The restaurant offers full and pick-up catering, as well. Jigg’s is located in
Custer County Oklahoma, home to attractions including the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum,
Water-Zoo Indoor Water Park, Stafford Air & Space Museum, Lucky Star Casino
and Foss State Park. From history, to outdoor recreation and family fun,
there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
This property for sale represents a rare opportunity for
someone to take over a turnkey business with a rich heritage and tons of
potential for even more success. For more information on Jigg’s Smokehouse or the
